Solomon’s Quilt Finished

053

I have finally finished my version of Lesley Brankin’s ‘Beside the Sea’ quilt. My version is a baby quilt and so I have left out some of the elements in the book, but I am pleased with the result and I have really enjoyed making it, so much so that I am contemplating making another one. Some sections such as the Lighthouse came together quite quickly……………

but others like the Puffin and the Sea Horses were quite fiddly

I quilted it myself on my domestic Singer sewing machine and had good fun making different patterns for each section.

The recipients name is spelt out in flags around the quilt along with his home town of St Ives, which is of course ‘Beside the Sea’ 041

WOW Solomon’s Quilt

The Almond Blossom is out now here in sunny Spain which means the bees are out in force. Spring is definitely on it’s way, hooray!!

It means that I have been able to spread my quilting paraphernalia out into the “conservatory” otherwise know as the awning. I have finally finished the central part of the flimsy for the “By the sea” quilt.

I am making the flags for the border now and then I can add the sashing and final borders.
