I have finally finished my version of Lesley Brankin’s ‘Beside the Sea’ quilt. My version is a baby quilt and so I have left out some of the elements in the book, but I am pleased with the result and I have really enjoyed making it, so much so that I am contemplating making another one. Some sections such as the Lighthouse came together quite quickly……………
but others like the Puffin and the Sea Horses were quite fiddly
I quilted it myself on my domestic Singer sewing machine and had good fun making different patterns for each section.
The recipients name is spelt out in flags around the quilt along with his home town of St Ives, which is of course ‘Beside the Sea’
clever way to put a name on a really nicely made quilt.
